about
This song has quite a storied history. It was originally written by Hobbit in 1989, where it was released as the title track to his first recording... on cassette! It was re-written in 2003 to update it a bit and recorded on Preliminary Slithers, the first CD from Snake Suspenderz, back when the Snakez were just a duo. But wait!
It was re-written again in 2011, however it managed to escape the studio this time.
And lastly, it was re-written in 2015, with lots of changes in form and scansion, and is now being released into the wild. Even if you have a crumbling copy of that first cassette, you'll be able to recognize the song and the changes it's gone through.

LYRICS
When the junkie man he breaks into your home
He steals your laptop and your tablet and your phone
But when you catch him just outside your kitchen door
He's sniffin' and stumblin' and cryin' and mumblin'
He's just gotta score (cuz he's)
Keepin' up with his jones, He don't make any bones about it
He's got to have that sweet, white candy, Every day
Keepin' up with his jones, There ain't nobody can stop him
So Mister you had better not stand in his way
Mister you had better not stand in his way
My neighbor lady is sweet to the bone
But so damn lazy she won't stir to get the phone
Just look at her cigarettes and see she needs more
Whether four in the mornin' or pourin' or snowin'
She's out to the store (she's just)
Keepin' up with her jones, She don't make any bones about it
She's got to have that bittersweet candy, Every day
Keepin' up with her jones, There ain't nobody can stop her
So Mister you had better not stand in her way
Mister you had better not stand in her way
Everybody's got their own jones
Take it away they all weeps and moans
You say mine's weird and I say it's not
Makes me wonder what kind of jones you got
Now it's four in the morning and I can't sleep
I'd pray the lord but I'm afraid I'm in too deep
When I smell them java beans I can't remain mild
It's brewin' and drippin' I'm stewin' and twitchin'
It's drivin' me wild (I'm just)
Keepin' Up With My Jones, I don't make any bones about it
I've got to have that hot black candy, Every day
Keepin' Up With My Jones, There ain't nobody can stop me
So Mister you had better not stand in my way
Mister you had better not stand in my way
